upload() returns null

I've been trying to work my way around the API and I have a static HTML Page ready to go, uploading it manually does work fine

Problem is when doing

I end up getting null as a return value.
Ive verified that the file exists, doing file_get_contents(__DIR__.'/export/index.html'); does indeed give me the file contents so im unsure why this wouldnt work, only other thing i can think of is that this is being run on localhost

I know this is a few months old and likely already solved without an answer, but I'd like to attempt to shed some light on this, since I needed help understanding it too.
I believe I was receiving NULL as a result of attempting to send a file to a directory without specifying a filename.

When you use the upload function on Neocities' API you're expected to send a file and specify how it will be saved as on the server.
That is to say, you cannot simply specify the directory where the file will be saved to. You must be explicit with the information that the API receives.

Using the example above:

$nc->upload([
    // Neocities Server => Your Computer
    './index.html' => __DIR__ . '/export/index.html'
]);

personally, I opted to store the information as variables to make this easier for me to understand

    //just an example
    $DESTINATION . 'filename.html' => $WORKDIR . 'filename.html'

I think if you use the API via the Neocities Gem in terminal it allows you to get away with sending it without specifying the destination filename. From what I can tell this isn't the case when using curl, which is what this library relies on.

Oh yeah that was EXACTLY it
that and using it from localhost requires
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
in the Neocities class
