Install and Run Locally

1. Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+ and npm
• MongoDB Atlas/local MongoDB connection string

2. Clone and go to project

git clone <your-repo-url>
cd exam-ga-system

3. Install dependencies

npm install

4. Configure environment

Edit backend/.env and set:

MONGODB_URI=<your_mongodb_uri>
JWT_SECRET=svit_exam_ga_jwt_secret_2024_very_long_and_secure
JWT_REFRESH_SECRET=svit_exam_ga_refresh_secret_2024_very_long
PORT=5000
NODE_ENV=development
FRONTEND_URL=http://localhost:5173

5. Seed database

npm run seed

6. Run app (frontend + backend)

npm run dev

7. Open in browser

• Frontend: http://localhost:5173
• Backend health: http://localhost:5000/api/health

8. Login

• Username/Email: admin@svit.edu.in
• Password: Admin@123
