Merge after quicknode/solana-program-examples#167, which renames both companion programs. The book follows the companion repository, per CLAUDE.md.

The Vault Strategy → The Managed Fund

The product the chapter builds is a manager-run fund with shares priced at NAV. In finance terms that's a managed fund, the onchain equivalent of a mutual fund. The chapter and the table of contents called it an index fund, which it isn't: its manager chooses the weights. "Vault" already means a program-owned token account everywhere else in the book.

  • The chapter becomes managed-fund.md. Its figures become fund-*.svg, with labels renamed to match the program.
  • "Also called a vault strategy" boxout at the top of the chapter. It explains that platforms sell the product under that name, why the book doesn't use it, and how the product differs from an index fund.
  • Glossary: strategy becomes managed fund, and a new vault strategy entry points to it.
  • Identifiers follow the companion: finance/managed-fund, initialize_fund(), FundNotFullyAllocated, the "fund" seed.

Token Fundraiser → The Fundraiser

Contributors receive no token, only a refund if the target is missed. The chapter becomes fundraiser.md and names finance/fundraiser. "The Fundraiser" matches "The Betting Market".

Both

  • Cross-references, the table of contents, the Amazon description, WRITING-PLAN.md and the linter's list of chapter titles follow the new names.
  • "Fundraiser" leaves the linter's title check: on its own it's an ordinary word, like Escrow.

Checks

  • npm run lint: clean
  • node scripts/check-figure-geometry.mjs: clean across 99 figures
  • npm run build-pdf: builds. I also rendered the managed fund's opening page with npm run preview to check the boxout.

The product the chapter builds is a manager-run fund with shares priced at
NAV: in finance terms a managed fund, the onchain equivalent of a mutual
fund. It is not an index fund, which the chapter and the table of contents
called it, because its manager chooses the weights. "Vault" already means a
program-owned token account everywhere else in the book.

- The chapter becomes managed-fund.md, titled The Managed Fund, and its
figures become fund-*.svg with their labels renamed.
- Identifiers follow the companion repository's rename:
  finance/managed-fund, initialize_fund(), FundNotFullyAllocated, the
  "fund" seed.
- A boxout at the top of the chapter says the product is also called a
vault strategy, why the book does not use that name, and how it differs
from an index fund. The glossary's strategy entry becomes managed fund,
and a new vault strategy entry points to it.
- Cross-references, the table of contents, the Amazon description, the
writing plan and the linter's chapter-title list follow.

Contributors receive no token, only a refund if the target is missed, so
"Token" described something the program does not do. The companion
repository renames finance/token-fundraiser to finance/fundraiser to match.

- The chapter becomes fundraiser.md, titled The Fundraiser, and names
  finance/fundraiser.
- Cross-references, the table of contents, the Amazon description, the
glossary, the writing plan and the Time chapter's table follow.
- The linter's chapter-title list drops the title: "Fundraiser" alone is an
ordinary word, like Escrow, so the convention covers it instead.
