Adds an M5Stack Dial board template and an LVGL example device, following the CoreS3 pattern.
templates/m5stack-dial.yaml: the GC9A01A round display, the FT3267 touch panel on ft5x06, the PWM backlight, the rotary encoder, the front button and the StampS3 BOOT button, the BM8563 RTC, the WS1850S RFID reader on rc522_i2c (a Home Assistant tag event per scan, plus the UID as text), the passive buzzer on its own LEDC timer, the GPIO46 power hold with a Power Off button, and the StampS3 RGB LED through rgb-led-status.yaml.
test/m5stack-dial.yaml: status, inputs, touch and controls pages. The encoder changes page, and pressing the screen down beeps.
README, HISTORY, OPERATIONS.md "M5Stack Dial" and cspell.json entries. The release notes go under the unreleased 2.4. version.json is unchanged, since the promotion carries the bump for both M5Stack boards.
Hardware
Tested on a Dial V1 (StampS3) on USB: USB and OTA flash, display, touch mapping, backlight dimming and idle sleep, encoder at one step per detent, front button, buzzer with a steady backlight, and the RTC write after SNTP. Untested: reading an RFID tag (no tag at hand), the power hold and Power Off on battery, the BOOT button and the RGB LED (both inside the case), and a V1.1 on the StampS3A. The template header, README and OPERATIONS.md say the same.
Local review
Three local-strict-review rounds ran over the whole diff. The first raised 11 findings and the second 3 more on the fixes, all fixed in this branch. The third raised none. No introduced finding remains open.
Added M5Stack Dial support with a configurable device template for its display, touch input, rotary encoder, buttons, buzzer, backlight, RFID reader, and RTC.
Added an interactive example with encoder-driven page navigation, touch feedback, clock and device status, and brightness and beep controls.
Scanned RFID tags are shared with Home Assistant; the displayed tag UID clears when the tag is removed.
Documentation
Added M5Stack Dial setup guidance, hardware notes, tested features, and links to relevant references.
A board template for the M5Stack Dial and an LVGL example device that
exercises it on a bench unit: the encoder pages, the front button beeps,
and the touch, status, inputs and controls pages show each part working.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Read the backlight target state for wakes, count encoder turns as LVGL
activity, move the buzzer onto its own LEDC timer, redraw the inputs per
event rather than on a 100ms poll, fire a Home Assistant tag event per
scan, and correct the power hold notes.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Run show_inputs from the encoder's on_value, which fires after the new
count is published, and move the buzzer to LEDC channel 7 so a device's
own auto-assigned ledc output cannot land on it.

Walkthrough
This change adds an ESPHome template for the M5Stack Dial and a test configuration with LVGL pages for its hardware features. The README, operations guide, and release history document the board and its behavior.
Adds ESP32-S3 board settings and configuration for the display, touch controller, backlight, encoder, buttons, buzzer, power control, RTC, and RFID reader.
Test configuration and input behavior test/m5stack-dial.yaml
Adds time-source and buzzer handling, input event behavior, encoder navigation, touch visualization, and backlight control.
LVGL pages and refresh behavior test/m5stack-dial.yaml
Adds status, input, touch, and controls pages. A periodic update refreshes clock and date when SNTP has time, and refreshes IP and uptime.
Release notes and board documentation HISTORY.md, OPERATIONS.md, README.md, cspell.json
Documents Dial support, board details, hardware verification, template and example links, and adds RFID to the spelling list.

Issue 258: The pull request adds the M5Stack Dial board template, LVGL example configuration, and hardware notes requested by the issue.
Issue 256: The pull request adds a Dial example to the test corpus, but does not add the requested C++ lint.
Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 83666
The Dial example can fail at boot once its RTC holds a valid time, which happens after the first network time sync is written back to the clock. The startup RTC read updates the screen before the display library is ready. A similar early screen update from the backlight may also occur. Move the RTC read, and any early screen updates, after display initialization before merging.

priority-390 action so it runs after LVGL setup at priorities 400 and 395; keep
the lcd_backlight action at priority 600.
Review comments at @test/m5stack-dial.yaml:
- Around line 170-173: Update the lcd_backlight on_state handler so it does not
update controls_backlight until LVGL has created the widget; after LVGL setup
completes, initialize the arc from the current lcd_backlight brightness so the
restored value is retained.
