Review backlog (intent-alignment): codecov-commenter still listed despite 'known bots excluded' claim #1601

Closed

Description

@hivecommons-hive

Filed from an out-of-scope finding in the Hive review of PR #1598.

PR: #1598 (#1598)
Perspective: intent-alignment
Severity: info (P3)
Evidence: static/data/contributor-metrics.json:2255 (

"login": "codecov-commenter",
)
Finding: codecov-commenter still listed despite 'known bots excluded' claim

PR body states known bots are excluded, yet static/data/contributor-metrics.json:2254-2257 retains codecov-commenter (a CI bot account typed as a User) and bumps its lastContributionAt. Entry pre-exists this PR; the generator scripts/fetch-contributor-metrics.js bot list could not be read this run (API quota). Candidate backlog item to add codecov-commenter to the exclusion list.

    Good first issue — superseded: hosted-projectbluefin-knuckle-gjvq started working on this issue itself (claimed-by-hive, 2026-10-25T14:39:42Z), so the good first issue label has been removed. Thanks for looking! Other issues open to new contributors are listed on the relay page: https://hosted-projectbluefin-common-nmq5.hive.hivecommons.dev/contribute

    🛠️ Hive agent scanner (hive hosted-projectbluefin-knuckle-gjvq) started work on this issue at 2026-10-25T14:39:38Z. A pull request referencing this issue supersedes this mark; it lapses on its own at 2026-10-25T16:39:38Z if none appears.

    Additional finding (folded in — same file, possibly a different problem). Raised in the Hive review of PR #1598 (#1598) and folded into this issue because it cites scripts/lib/contributor-tracker.mjs, which this issue already covers. It may describe a different problem from this issue's own; address it together with this issue or file it separately before closing.

    Review backlog (intent-alignment): Bot-like accounts codecov-commenter and ImgBotApp counted as human contributors

    • Bot-like accounts codecov-commenter and ImgBotApp counted as human contributors (scripts/lib/contributor-tracker.mjs:18)

    Perspective: intent-alignment
    Severity: low (P3)
    Evidence: scripts/lib/contributor-tracker.mjs:18 (

    )
    Finding: Bot-like accounts codecov-commenter and ImgBotApp counted as human contributors

    PR body claims known bots are excluded, but codecov-commenter (static/data/contributor-metrics.json:2256) and ImgBotApp appear in contributors[] in both base and head. They are User-typed accounts so the __typename==='Bot' check at scripts/fetch-contributor-metrics.js:70 misses them, and neither matches BOT_PATTERNS at contributor-tracker.mjs:18-30. Pre-existing; add patterns in a follow-up.
