docs(wallpaper): explain Hidamari movie setup - #1323
Conversation
Document copying the shipped movie into the XDG Videos/Hidamari folder so the Flatpak can discover it. Link the guide from the README and record the sandbox constraint in the maintainer skill. docs/hidamari.md:13-14—xdg-user-dir VIDEOSnever prints an empty string: whenXDG_VIDEOS_DIRis unconfigured it falls back to$HOME, so thetest -nguard cannot trigger and the snippet silently creates~/Hidamari. The Flatpak's--filesystem=xdg-videos/Hidamari:createdoes not map to$HOMEin that case, so the copy lands where Hidamari cannot see it. Consider guardingtest "$videos_dir" != "$HOME"(or telling the user to runxdg-user-dirs-updatefirst). Rare on Bluefin GNOME logins, so non-blocking.

docs/skills/hidamari-wallpaper.md:4— front matter still sayslast_updated: "2026-09-24"though this PR adds a new section (lines 33-42). Bump it so the skill index reflects the change.
No findings from: security, intent-alignment, style.
Confidence: 5/5 (safe)

Reviewed at 6364878. This adds a short guide for using the movie Bluefin ships with Hidamari, plus a README link and a maintainer note. The movie exists at the path the guide copies from (system_files/bluefin/usr/share/backgrounds/bluefin/bluefin-hidamari.webm), and the Flathub manifest grants xdg-videos/Hidamari, so copying instead of symlinking is right. The doc link, skill front matter and skill index checks pass locally, and CI is green.
Two small suggestions, not blocking:
xdg-user-dir VIDEOSprints$HOMEwhen no Videos folder is configured, not an empty string, so thetest -nguard never fires and the copy would land in~/Hidamari, which the Flatpak can't see. Checking!= "$HOME"would catch that.last_updatedindocs/skills/hidamari-wallpaper.mdstill says 2026-09-24.
Not tried: the steps in a live Hidamari install.
## What does this change? Adds a README-linked Hidamari setup guide explaining how to copy the shipped Bluefin movie into the user's XDG Videos/Hidamari folder and select it in Local Video. The command respects localized paths and asks before replacing an existing file. Updates the maintainer skill with the same sandbox constraint. ## Why? PR projectbluefin#1207 shipped the movie but deliberately left projectbluefin#1158 open because Hidamari cannot discover the system copy. Its review explicitly offered documented copy instructions as a resolution. This supplies that manual setup path, including troubleshooting and removal instructions. Closes projectbluefin#1158. ## Validation - `just check` passed. - `pre-commit run --all-files` passed, including the new guide. - Executed the documented copy snippet with the repository movie as its source and a temporary localized Videos path containing spaces; verified byte-for-byte copying and that declining replacement preserves existing contents. - Checked the Flathub manifest's `xdg-videos/Hidamari:create` permission. - Hidamari GUI playback was not tested in this environment. This is documentation only; no automatic first-run behavior is added. ## Checklist - [x] Conventional Commits title - [x] Local lint and pre-commit checks pass - [x] Relevant skill updated and internal links validated - [ ] CI results pending after PR creation — hive: backend=codex model=gpt-6-astra effort=medium --- 🐝 **Hive Agent**: `contributor` | **SHA:** `6364878` Signed-off-by: arteeh <arteeh@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: arteeh <arteeh@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com>
