docs: state one supported Node.js range for Prisma 8, and drop the npm 11.6 requirement - #8441
wmadden-electric wants to merge 2 commits into
Conversation
… 11.6 requirement Every Prisma 8 page now states the same range: Node.js 22.18 or newer on the 22 line, 24.11 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer, matching create-prisma's engines field (^22.18.0 || ^24.11.0 || >=26.0.0). Pages that explain why (Composer and migration.ts need Node to run .ts files) keep the reason. create-prisma 0.14.2 removed its npm 11.6 check (prisma/create-prisma#128), so the pages no longer tell readers to upgrade npm; the npm that ships with a supported Node.js release works (npm 10 on Node.js 22). Signed-off-by: willbot <w.a.madden+machine@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Will Madden <madden@prisma.io>
…nd SolidStart exceptions Seven Prisma 8 guides and the guide template still said Node.js 24 or later. The Nuxt guide and template row now give the narrower range the Nuxt template needs, and SolidStart keeps its Node.js 24 minimum within the supported range. The create-prisma page says again that create-prisma stops on an unsupported Node.js, and lists Yarn 4.10 or newer. The contract-emit upgrade script runs on any supported Node.js. Release status no longer reads as if Prisma needs npm. Signed-off-by: willbot <w.a.madden+machine@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Will Madden <madden@prisma.io>

🌐 Web query:
official create-prisma Nuxt Node.js 22.22.3 24.15 version check implementation
💡 Result:
If you’re asking whether **official `create-prisma` with the Nuxt template** accepts Node **22.22.3** or **24.15.x**: **both meet the documented Node-version floor**. Prisma’s current guidance requires Node **22.18+**, or **24.11+** on the 24 line. ([prisma.io](https://www.prisma.io/docs/getting-started?utm_source=openai))
The official `create-prisma` repository lists `nuxt` as a supported template, but the repository page I could inspect does **not establish the CLI’s version-check implementation**. So I can confirm those versions meet the published requirement, but not whether the CLI itself checks the running Node version before scaffolding. ([github.com](https://github.com/prisma/create-prisma))
If you meant a specific `create-prisma` release or want the exact source code path for its check, share the version/commit—implementation details may differ by release.

Apply Nuxt’s higher Node.js minimum in the setup guidance.
The four prompts allow nuxt but check only the common Node.js range. A Nuxt setup on Node.js 22.18–22.22.2 or 24.11–24.14 passes these checks but does not meet the documented Nuxt prerequisite. Add the conditional check to each agent prompt and state it in the prerequisites.

Example
Today three Prisma 8 pages describe the Node.js requirement in three different ways:
The first two read as allowing every release from 22.18 up, including release lines Prisma does not support. The third excludes Node.js 22, which Prisma does support. A reader cannot tell which page is right.
The published packages are not consistent either.
create-prisma@0.14.2declares"node": "^22.18.0 || ^24.11.0 || >=26.0.0".prisma@8.0.0-rc.22and@prisma/composer@0.29.1declare"node": ">=22.18.0".Many of the same pages also told readers to upgrade to npm 11.6 before running
npm create prisma@latest, because create-prisma refused npm 10. create-prisma 0.14.2 removed that check (prisma/create-prisma#128).Decision
Every Prisma 8 tool (Prisma ORM, the
prismaCLI, Composer, create-prisma) supports one Node.js range:^22.18.0 || ^24.11.0 || >=26.0.0. create-prisma already declares it. Parallel PRs set the same range in theenginesfield of theprismaCLI (prisma/prisma-cli#343), Composer (prisma/composer#351) and the Prisma ORM packages; until those are released, theirenginesstill say>=22.18.0.Every Prisma 8 page now states the range in the same words: "Node.js 22.18 or newer on the 22 line, 24.11 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer". Bullet lists use the short form "Node.js 22.18 or newer on the 22 line, 24.11 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer (24 recommended)".
No page asks readers to upgrade npm any more. Where a page lists prerequisites, it says the npm that ships with a supported Node.js release works, which is npm 10 on Node.js 22.
Two framework guides need more than the base range, because the framework does. Nuxt needs Node.js 22.22.3 or newer on the 22 line, 24.15 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer. The SolidStart 2 template needs Node.js 24, so that guide asks for 24.11 or newer on the 24 line, or 26 or newer.
How the pages changed
.tsfiles only from 22.18.0. Migrations runnode migration.tsfor the same reason.npm install --global npm@11step, or quote the old npm error. They now say that on an unsupported Node.js, create-prisma stops before it writes any files and prints the required range, except under Bun or Deno. They list Yarn 4.10 or newer, which is what create-prisma supports. The template table notes Nuxt's narrower range.contract emitpage's upgrade script said it needed Node 24. It uses onlynode:crypto, node:fsandnode:path, so the page now says it runs on any supported Node.js.Pages changed
