Problem or use case

I want to quickly see everything that has changed in the current project but has not been committed yet. The current workflow does not provide an obvious, always-accessible overview of the working tree, especially when changes span many files or include untracked files.

Expected behavior

Provide a clearly discoverable source-control view that shows:

  • Modified, added, deleted, renamed, and untracked files.
  • The current branch and repository status.
  • A diff for each changed file.
  • A clear indication when the working tree is clean.

The view should be reachable from the project UI without needing to ask an agent or inspect files one by one.

Smallest useful scope

Add a “Changes” or “Working tree” surface that lists all uncommitted files and opens their diffs, including untracked files where possible.

Why this matters

A reliable working-tree overview makes it much easier to review agent changes, catch unintended edits, and understand what will be included in the next commit.

Related

Related but distinct: #5616 discusses a Diff tab incorrectly showing no changes in a particular environment.

Contribution

  • I would be open to helping implement this.
