Summary

  • Reduce header badges to the 5 highest-signal: CI, PyPI, License, Docs, Codespaces.
  • Drop Python-version, Downloads, repostatus "WIP", and codecov badges — Downloads is at zero pre-1.0 (vanity badge that undersells the project), and the Alpha note already covers status.

Test plan

  • Visual check of remaining badge markup renders correctly

Drop Python-version, Downloads, repostatus, and codecov badges.
Downloads sits at zero pre-1.0 and the repostatus WIP badge
undersells the project; the Alpha note in the README already
covers status. Remaining badges (CI, PyPI, License, Docs,
Codespaces) cover maintenance, install, licensing, docs, and a
one-click try-it path.
