Open Media Streaming Foundation

Open standard for streaming media backends. Unified API specification enabling any frontend to work with any OMSS-compliant streaming backend.

Open Media Streaming Foundation

Developing and maintaining the Open Media Streaming Specification (OMSS) - an open standard that defines how streaming backends expose media sources through a unified API so any frontend can connect to any backend!

What is OMSS?

OMSS standardizes the interface between streaming frontends and backends, enabling:

  • 🔄 Interoperability: Any OMSS frontend works with any OMSS backend
  • 🌐 Open Standard: Community-driven, vendor-neutral specification
  • 📦 Simple Integration: Consistent JSON endpoints and data schemas
  • 🚀 Ecosystem Growth: Easy to build compatible implementations
