In MacOS 27, the precise location information of devices, is now longer displayed just by selecting the device itself; a summarised location is still only shown, thereby rendering the --zoom flag ineffective. The full location is only shown when selecting the 3-dot button, which then launches a pop-up window, which then shows the full address (see attached screenshots).

Fixed in #23, shipped to main. Thanks for the report and the screenshots — they were the key to it.

Reproduced on macOS 26.6.2, so the redesign has already shipped in the released OS, not only the 27 beta. It was also worse than "--zoom is ineffective": it was fabricating. Every person came back with the same made-up street address, scraped off the map canvas:

Three separate causes, all now fixed:

1. The row was never actually being clicked. screencapture -l pads the bitmap with the window's ~34pt drop shadow, so a 1024x768 window captured as 2184x1672. The image-to-window coordinate mapping assumed the two origins coincide, so every synthesized click landed ~22pt low and ~25pt right. Capturing with -o makes the arithmetic exact.

2. With the click landing, your description is confirmed — and it's slightly different from the 3-dot popup. Selecting a row opens a callout pinned to the map, showing the person's name over the same coarse location and staleness the sidebar already had. No street address anywhere in the window. The extractor now requires the pane header to match the row that was clicked, and requires address lines to sit in that header's column, so scattered map labels can't join on.

3. looksLikeAddressLine matched street words as substrings, so "Winston" matched "st" and "Redmond" matched "rd". Whole words only now.

Since there is genuinely nothing more precise on screen to read, --zoom no longer guesses. It warns on stderr, leaves precise_address unset, and stays exit 0 with the coarse reading intact so --json pipelines keep working:

         macOS 26 replaced FindMy's split view with a floating sidebar over a
         full-window map. Selecting a row now opens a map callout carrying the
         same coarse location as the sidebar, not a street address, so there is
         nothing more precise on screen to read. See issue #13.

This is now documented under Limitations in the README. If the 3-dot popup on macOS 27 does expose a full address, that would be a new path worth adding — the click plumbing it would need is fixed and working now. Happy to look at it if you can share what the popup renders.

Separately, while verifying I found an intermittent Devices-tab parse bug (names and locations swapping), which turned out to be pre-existing and unrelated — filed as #24.
