edgarkit examples

Working code examples built on top of the edgarkit API for SEC EDGAR filings. Every example is deployable as-is, no boilerplate.

What's here

• Insider alert Discord bot — Discord bot that pings a channel every time an insider files a Form 4 open-market purchase above a threshold. ~40 lines of Node.
• Cluster-buy screener — Script that scans all recent Form 4 filings and surfaces companies where 3+ insiders are buying in a rolling 30-day window. Prints results sorted by dollar value.

• 10-K change monitor — Diff the latest 10-K filing against last year's and surface material changes in risk factors, MD&A, and legal proceedings.
• Congressional trading tracker — Match PTR filings from Congress against unusual insider activity at the same tickers.
• 13F clone strategy — Follow a specific fund's quarterly filings and rebalance a paper portfolio automatically.
• 8-K real-time news feed — Slack/Discord alerts on material 8-K filings (item 5.02 executive departures, item 8.01 other events, guidance updates).

Setup

Every example expects one environment variable:

export EDGARKIT_API_KEY=ek_live_your_key_here

Then in any example directory:

npm install
node index.js

Why edgarkit

The SEC publishes ~2,000 filings per day across 100+ form types. Parsing EDGAR's XML directly is painful, the docs are inconsistent, and the paid alternatives (Finnhub, Polygon, FMP) all have 12 to 24 hour delays on Form 4. edgarkit polls EDGAR every 30 to 60 seconds, parses everything, and exposes it via clean REST endpoints.
