Paul Kirby

Systems engineer. I find the fault that five reboots didn't fix.

Owner & Lead Technician at Berkshire IT Services — fully mobile IT support across Berkshire, UK. No workshop, no ticket queue, just one engineer who turns up (or screenshares) and fixes it properly.

What I'm working on

  • 🔧 Berkshire IT Services — on-site & remote support for homes and small businesses. Computer repair, malware removal, Wi-Fi dead-zone hunts, data recovery, new-PC setup.
  • The Vision Apps toolkit — four open-source accessibility tools for low-vision, photophobic and astigmatic readers. See below.
  • 🤖 Kirby AI Skills Collection — deterministic SOPs and execution frameworks for AI agents (Antigravity, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf). Covers Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), accessibility contrast auditing, and agent security.
  • 📚 Tiffany Lambert PLR Skills Collection — an 8-skill agent suite executing Two-Way Personalisation and Framework Fusion to convert static PLR into high-converting, anti-slop digital assets, direct-response copy, and omnichannel campaigns.
  • 📡 residential-network-diagnostics — open-source scripts for diagnosing flaky home broadband: bufferbloat, channel congestion, DHCP weirdness. The toolkit I actually use on call-outs.
  • 🧰 BITS internal tooling — the worker scripts, checklists and automation that keep a one-person IT business running like a ten-person one.

Open source: the Vision Apps toolkit

Four small, dependency-light tools that reduce visual strain on screen. Built after seeing how often "just use high-contrast dark mode" makes things worse for people with astigmatism, photophobia or migraine — white-on-black halates rather than helps.

Project What it does Live
ChromaCalm Zero-install spectral notch filtering (FL-41 / 520nm) as a web tool and bookmarklet. demo
SoftContrast Anti-halation reading palettes built on APCA and OKLCH. demo
FocusBeacon Dual-contour high-contrast focus ring and a cursor radar for tunnel vision. demo
terminal-a11y Screen-reader, photophobia, braille and sensory-budget modes for the command line.

All MIT-licensed. Shared governance, specs and research live in the Vision Apps umbrella repo.

How I work

🗺️ Patch Ascot · Bracknell · Windsor · Maidenhead · Wokingham & surrounding Berkshire
🖥️ Platforms Windows, macOS, Linux — plus the routers, NAS boxes and printers in between
📶 Speciality Network diagnostics: if the Wi-Fi "just drops sometimes", that's my favourite kind of job
🗣️ Approach Plain English, fixed quotes, no jargon, no upsell
