Summary

  • Add Laravel\Rules\Decides, a validation rule backed by a decision, with that(), yes() and not() factories and ->message().
  • ->passWhenUnavailable() lets a value pass when laya-serve is unreachable or busy. By default the validation fails; other errors are thrown.
  • Ship the default validation.laya message in 12 languages, loaded under the laya namespace. An app's own validation.laya wins.
  • README section and a "Validating input" recipe.

Closes #12

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added Laravel validation rules for checking text against decision questions or custom decision logic.
    • Validation can be configured to pass when the Laya service is unavailable, and supports custom failure messages.
    • Added localized default validation messages in 12 languages.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance and an example for using decision checks to moderate review text.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds the Decides Laravel validation rule, supports localized and custom failure messages, defines behavior for unavailable Laya services, and adds tests and README examples.

Changes

Decision-backed validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Rule API and decision evaluation
src/Laravel/Rules/Decides.php
Decides adds predicate-based and yes/no factories, configurable failure messages, and an option to pass validation when Laya is unavailable or busy. It rejects non-string values without requesting a decision.
Localized failure messages
src/Laravel/LayaServiceProvider.php, lang/*/validation.php, tests/DecidesRuleTest.php
The service provider registers the laya translation namespace. Language files add a laya validation message. Tests cover message selection, translation, and attribute placeholders.
Validation cases and usage
tests/DecidesRuleTest.php, README.md
Tests cover decision outcomes, non-string values, unavailable-service handling, and propagation of other server errors. The README documents the rule and a moderation example.

Using the rule on its own, an empty or missing field can pass validation even though the documentation says non-string input fails. The impact is narrow and is normally covered by a required rule. Consider making the rule implicit, or documenting the behavior, before merging.

Explanation

Issue #12 functional requirements are implemented. Decides implements ValidationRule, resolves Laya during validation, supports that(), yes(), not(), custom messages, translated defaults, non-string rejection without a request, and unavailable-service handling. tests/DecidesRuleTest.php covers validator integration, Laya::fake(), messages, errors, and unavailable services. The provided evidence does not establish the required 100% coverage, mutation score, or PHPStan max result.

- Line 23: Update Decides so Laravel treats it as an implicit validation rule
and invokes validate() when the input is null; add a Validator test confirming
null is rejected, while preserving the existing no-request behavior.
