@dergoegge shared some patches that allow smite to work with the bedrock hypervisor:
The main benefits:
- 100% determinism and stability (modulo some bugs), which would likely improve our fuzzing efficiency significantly
- bedrock is currently maintained, unlike Nyx
- skips idle time
- causes unusual thread-schedules, which can uncover certain bugs more easily
Main downsides:
- special hardware and kernel requirements
- not thoroughly tested; alpha quality
@dergoegge also mentioned that we may be able to avoid AFL++ patches by adding the Nyx hooks to bedrock so that AFL++ doesn't know the difference.
