…stores it composition_list_derivatives returns only the canonical Work for a book whose derivatives are archived, including when called with an archived derivative's own project_id. There is no include_archived or status parameter. This is not agent-only. The REST route is documented as the twin of this tool and the DivergenceManagerView's read side, and both call works.resolve_by_book, whose query filters status='active'. The product's own divergence manager is equally blind. The cause is a shared primitive with two callers wanting opposite things. resolve_by_book is the work-RESOLUTION chokepoint, where excluding an archived Work is correct, and it is reused as a listing read, where it is exactly wrong. Each caller's fix is the other's defect. The consequence is concrete: derivative_edit op=restore works, proven in #180, but its input is discoverable only if the caller kept the id. get_derivative_context still answers for an archived derivative, so it is unfindable rather than gone. The sibling precedent is in the same service -- arc_list has include_archived, arc_template_list has status. Recorded as DQ-20 rather than edited: choosing wrong turns a listing convenience into a resolution bug. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
