The listing was io.github.lbesecker195/mcp-registry-search-find-mcp- servers-discover-install-mcp-tools-directory-catalog-marketplace: a run of keywords rather than a name, which is what the registry's moderation looks for. - server.json, llms.txt, Instructions.md and the GitHub onboarding draft now use io.github.lbesecker195/mcp-registry-search-directory - The long name joins RETIRED_SERVER_NAMES, so it is marked deleted before the new one publishes and frees the endpoint URL - The retire check retries: reading an error page as "absent" would skip the retire and the publish would fail on the URL the old name holds - The claude mcp add alias is the user's own label and is unchanged Closes #83 --- Pages affected: - [MCP Harbor](https://ai.mcpharbor.dev/) -- the registry whose official listing is renamed. - [MCP Harbor llms.txt](https://ai.mcpharbor.dev/llms.txt) -- now names the new listing. Lowercase, like nearly every identifier upstream and like our own mirror stores names.
How the switch happens
The registry allows one active server per endpoint URL, so the long name goes into
RETIRED_SERVER_NAMES. The publish job marks it deleted before publishing the new name, which freeshttps://ai.mcpharbor.dev/mcp.The retire check now retries. Previously it read any response through
jq … // "absent", so an error page could be taken as "already gone". The retire would then be skipped and the publish would fail on the URL the old name still held.Unchanged on purpose
claude mcp add --transport http mcp-registry-search …appears in 60+ places. That alias is a label users choose for their own client config, not the registry identity, so it stays.Follow-up
The GitHub MCP Registry onboarding request (github/github-mcp-server#1257) was posted under the old name and will need pointing at the new one.
