This creates smaller files and facilitates scripted postprocessing or parsing

@icrf2000 we are trying to create tests to make easier to refactor the code and include new features. Before accepting this PR we must first create the test to export GPX functionality because is a core functionality. I have the test in my todo list but haven't had time, if you create the test will be easier to merge this PR. |

This PR is an alternative to #263.
As suggested by @jamescr in his comment to #262, this PR gives the user the choice btw. long and short GPX format.
