I'd like to add the commit timestamp.
It might be redundant when vcs-ref is known, but it is deterministic and it is useful when the repository can not be reached, e.g. for images from an internal repository that are published without access to the source.
It also saves an extra lookup step when one only wants to know which version is newer and version numbers provided by humans are not available.
