PC-side server for installing games into Nintendo Switch via USB (DBI0 protocol).
Fork of lunixoid/dbibackend, rewritten in Go.
- System tray menu bar app (default) with start/stop control
- CLI mode for headless usage (
--cli) - Multiple directory support — scan all your title folders at once
- Cross-platform: macOS, Linux, Windows
- NFC-normalized filenames (fixes Korean/Unicode display on Switch)
- Single binary — no Python or runtime dependencies
- GoReleaser + Homebrew tap distribution
Host:
- macOS / Windows — no additional dependencies (libusb is embedded)
- Linux — libusb (
sudo apt install libusb-1.0-0-devor equivalent)
Nintendo Switch:
- DBI v202+
brew install kyungw00k/tap/dbibackendLinux also needs libusb:
sudo apt install libusb-1.0-0-dev(or equivalent).
brew install --cask kyungw00k/tap/dbibackendInstalls DBI Backend.app into /Applications — a regular Mac app with
Launch-at-Login support. The formula above installs the bare CLI binary instead.
Installed from the DMG directly? macOS blocks the first launch ("cannot check for malicious software") until the app is notarized. Cask installs clear this automatically; for a manual DMG install, run:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/dbibackend.appor use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
scoop bucket add kyungw00k https://github.com/kyungw00k/scoop-bucket
scoop install dbibackendDownload the latest binary from Releases.
Run dbibackend — the app starts and lives in your menu bar / system tray,
then see Usage. No arguments needed.
dbibackend [--debug]The app lives in your system tray. Click the DBI icon to:
- Start — begin waiting for a Switch USB connection
- Add Directory — add folders containing NSP/NSZ/XCI files
- Stop — disconnect and stop the server
- On Switch, open DBI → Install title from USB
- Select and install titles from all configured directories
dbibackend --cli <titles_dir> [--debug]make build # dist/dbibackend, version stamped from git tags
make test # go test ./...MIT
