chore: drop dead code, fix a Windows-only path leak, and finish the verify map - #107
Conversation
inspect_metadata built organizationPath with path.join, so a Windows client read Images\2024\05\photo.jpg where the contract is Images/2024/05/photo.jpg. getMetadataSubpath had the same problem one level down, which is how the separator reached the tool. Both now build the label with a template literal. The organizer is unaffected because it wraps the subpath in its own path.join, which normalizes the separator for a real path. AGENTS.md listed this as the one unfixed example of the path.sep leak class, and it is now the worked example of the fix. The new test asserts the whole string rather than the parts. On Linux the old code produced the same answer, so that leg cannot go red there; I checked it goes red against a path.win32.join implementation, which is the shape the bug had. Commit made by space-bunny-free (Synara) on behalf of Kriday.
Fifteen exports had no caller anywhere in src, tests, scripts, bin or docs: - src/utils/diagnostics.ts, 663 lines, an orphan since the lean-v5 shrink. Its own entry in the static-analysis exclusion list is now gone with it. - saveConfig, a deprecated one-line wrapper over updateUserConfig. - initializeUserConfig, which wrote a default config nothing read. - detectArchiveFormat, the only user of its own ArchiveValidationResult. - getAllowedDirectories, CATEGORY_NAMES, HISTORY_LOGGING_CONFIG, SKIP_PATTERNS, getSignaturesByCategory, isExecutableContent, ensureDir, formatDate, getAutoOrganizeScheduler, reloadAutoOrganizeScheduler, startMcpServer, and relativeDirs in the test tree helper. Each was checked for dynamic access before removal, since a bare grep misses HISTORY_LOGGING_CONFIG["MAX_RETRY_ATTEMPTS"]. The remaining neighbours of each one stay: isExecutableSignature and matchSignature are called from categorize/, and validateEntryPath and validateArchiveEntries are covered by the adversarial suites. docs/skills/SKILL.md listed ensureDir and formatDate as helpers to reach for, which is what stopped them looking dead. It now names the ones that exist. Commit made by space-bunny-free (Synara) on behalf of Kriday.
11.14.0 carried GHSA-f94x-6692-553q (MP4 stsd size==0 hangs the process), GHSA-5gfj-9q3v-qfp3 (EBML trusts element lengths, memory exhaustion) and GHSA-8j4c-6x6g-rq3j (a crafted .dsf aborts the process uncatchably). All three are reachable from here: src/services/metadata/audio.ts calls parseFile on whatever path a caller validates. 11.16.1 clears them within the same major, so no code changes. The remaining audit noise is sprintf-js, reached only through jest's own tree, and fixing it means --force downgrading ts-jest. Commit made by space-bunny-free (Synara) on behalf of Kriday.
The feature map covered 24 of the 37 registered tools and said so honestly, which is how a coverage claim came to rest on a number nothing checked. Twelve tools had no entry at all, including sensitive_scan and verify_integrity, and AGENTS.md sends you to this skill whenever you touch the validator or manifest integrity. New [find.md] takes disk_usage_by_category, find_old_files, find_empty_directories and sensitive_scan. organize.md gains organize_by_date and validate_organization_plan, rollback.md gains the quarantine pair and verify_integrity, duplicates.md gains preview_delete_duplicates, customize.md gains export_config. Every entry was written from a drive, not from the schema. That turned up things a schema read would have got wrong: - organize_by_date takes source_dir and target_dir, not directory, and its target cannot sit inside the source. In this sandbox both arguments have to live under data/, which is the constraint a proof has to work around. - quarantine_files wants files as a JSON array of absolute paths. A bare name fails twice over, first as a type error and then at the path validator. - The four tools in find.md disagree on the include_subdirs default: true on two, false on two. - sensitive_scan analyzed one of thirteen fixtures, because only JPEG and TIFF carry the EXIF it reads. Two claims I wrote from the schema were wrong and are corrected in the file: find_empty_directories defaults include_subdirs to true, and find_old_files has no auto age mode. It also rejects older_than_days 0. Two guards in docs-tool-list.test.ts now hold this. One fails when a registered tool has no entry, one when the index links a file that is not on disk. I checked both go red by moving find.md and by renaming it, rather than trusting a passing run. Commit made by space-bunny-free (Synara) on behalf of Kriday.

The current feature files use lowercase hyphenated names, so no existing broken link is missed. However,
featureFiles()accepts any.mdfilename, and the index does not define a narrower naming rule. A valid link such asmy_feature.mdorfile2.mdcan be skipped by this regex. Widen the class to keep the link check aligned with the feature-file contract.Suggested fix

State that recursion defaults vary by tool.
“Nothing recurses by default” conflicts with the next lines, which say disk_usage_by_category, find_empty_directories, and smart_suggest default to recursion. Replace the first sentence with “Recursion defaults vary by tool.”

Align the verify_integrity Gotcha with the handler.
verify_integrity rechecks the manifest signature, then checks the named files for missing or modified content. The current Gotcha incorrectly says that it does not check files and documents a signatureValid result that this tool does not return.
🐛 Suggested fix
-- **`verify_integrity` verifies the manifest, not the files.** It reports a
- `signatureValid` flag per manifest and never hands paths back. To check that a
- file is still where a manifest put it, read the manifest through a tool that
- re-verifies, or check the filesystem.
+- **`verify_integrity` checks the manifest and the files it names.** It
+ re-verifies the manifest signature, then reports each file as `unchanged`,
+ `modified`, `missing`, or `unverifiable`. `verified` is true only when every
+ named file was rehashed and matched. The detailed result includes file paths,
+ but the tool never moves, restores, or deletes files.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents
