The reason why the test case suddenly worked under 3.14 is because the annotations are now lazily evaluated[0]. [0] https://docs.python.org/3/whatsnew/3.14.html#whatsnew314-deferred-annotations

Python 3.14 is officially here, so it is time to add it to the test suite! Also, dropping 3.9 since it is EOL.
I did a test run locally and most of the test passed. Let's see what the CI says.
