ಕನ್ನಡ ಗಣಕ ಪರಿಷತ್ತು (ಕಗಪ) 1997ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಬಳಕೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಗಣಕಾಸಕ್ತರು, ತಜ್ಞರು ಮತ್ತು ಸೇವಾಭಾವಿಗಳಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾದ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡದ ಗಣಕೀಕರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಮೂಲಸೌಕರ್ಯ, ಸಾಧನಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವುದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಧ್ಯೇಯ.

ಕಗಪವು ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಕ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸಲು ಹಲವು ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿ, ಅವನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ಯರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ತರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಆಡಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗಣಕೀಕರಣ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಕನ್ನಡವೇ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಮುಂದುವರೆಯಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. ಈ ಉದ್ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ತಂತ್ರಾಂಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾಗಿರುವ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸಿ, ಅವನ್ನು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ವಲಯದ ಗಮನಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದಿದೆ.

ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಗಣಕಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ನೀಡುವ ಹಲವಾರು ಧ್ಯೇಯೋದ್ದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಕಗಪ, ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಬಲಪಡಿಸುವ ದಿಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Kannada Ganaka Parishat (KAGAPA), founded in 1997, is a voluntary organization established by computer enthusiasts, language experts, and technology supporters committed to promoting the use of Kannada in computing. The core mission of KAGAPA is to enable the development, standardization, and adoption of essential tools, technologies, and infrastructure required for effective computing in Kannada.

The organization has conceptualized and initiated several projects aimed at strengthening Kannada usage in digital systems. Notably, KAGAPA has consistently emphasized that Kannada must remain the primary medium in the ongoing computerization of the Karnataka government's administration. To support this vision, it has identified and published the minimum essential features required in Kannada software and brought them to the attention of government bodies and related institutions.

With clear goals focused on the advancement of Kannada in the field of computing, KAGAPA continues to work dedicatedly to ensure that the language holds a strong place in modern technology.
