Current Behavior
Currently, when using manual entry, users generally have to use mouse and key board. While it is possible to use tabs and number keys, it is very clunky.
The "manual entry" button must be clicked with the mouse - even though after entering a heat it automatically moves to the next heat - and when you do try to enter times, the cursor does not begin in the time entry fields so you must manually click on the first field. After that you can use tabs and finally enter to activate the "Change" button, but even then the button is not highlighted well.
Issue
While this will not be noticed by those who have been able to connect the timer to derbynet, if you can't then enter the times manually is a real chore and process prone to delay and error. It would be helpful if times could be manually entered purely using the keyboard and hotkeys.
Suggested enhancements
Suggested improvements are below and would be invisible to those who have attached a timer to their instance so this would only be visible for those who have not done so.
- Add hot key to open the "Manual Entry" pop up
- When the Manual Entry pop up opens, the first text box should be given focus so times can immediately be entered simply by pressing the tab button
- Hot Key for the "Change" button in the "Manual Entry" so that once times have been entered only a single button need be pressed rather than Tabbing and pressing enter
- Better highlighting of the buttons in the Manual Entry pop up so its more clear when they are selected
- Extra: Give a warning after clicking "Change" but before acting on it if a racer is not given a time or an invalid time (like a letter)
