CI online checks never run
Medium Severity
jactionlint turns on network checks with --online, not JACTIONLINT_ONLINE. The hk step still runs jactionlint without that flag, so known-vulnerable-action, impostor-commit, and stale-ref checks stay off in CI even though GITHUB_TOKEN is set.

JACTIONLINT_ONLINE is a documented setting in jactionlint 2.1.0 (added in jdx/jactionlint#155; see "Online checks" in https://github.com/jdx/jactionlint/blob/main/docs/usage.md). It acts like --online (1 = on, cache/strict/cache,strict = modes, 0/false/off/no = off like --no-online); the flags beat the variable and the variable beats online: in the config file. jactionlint --help lists it under --online, and this repo's mise.lock installs 2.1.0.
I checked with the real binary: JACTIONLINT_ONLINE=1 GITHUB_TOKEN=... jactionlint --verbose <workflow> prints online: using the token from $GITHUB_TOKEN for api.github.com. hk runs the command with the step's environment, so setting it on the hk step enables the online audits without --online in hk.pkl, which is intentional: local pre-commit runs stay offline. No change needed.

What changes for contributors
Workflow linting now runs jactionlint v2 with its default profile, which is stricter than v1: it adds security and policy rules on top of the actionlint-compatible checks. Run
hk checkto lint andhk fixto apply automatic fixes (jactionlint --fix); both also run on commit. The repo had no zizmor, so there is nothing to remove.Changes
mise.tomlpinsjactionlintto2(withminimum_release_age = "0s", since 2.0.2 is newer than the 24h default) andmise.lockis refreshed to 2.0.2 on the same platforms.hk.pklgains ajactionlint --fixfix step (effectwrite) next to the check. That needs theCommandSpecform, which hk 1.18.1's package does not have, so theamends/importlines move to thehk@2.5.0package that the installed hk (latest) already is.ci.ymlhad noconcurrency:, so it now cancels superseded runs per ref. Nothing is ignored.CI already runs
hk check --allthrough mise, so it keeps the same shape.Update: jactionlint 2.1.0 and online checks in CI only
jactionlinttrackslatestandmise.lockholds 2.1.0 (generated withMISE_MINIMUM_RELEASE_AGE=0s mise lock, so nominimum_release_ageoverride is committed; this supersedes the pin described above). Thelintjob'shk check --allstep inci.ymlsetsJACTIONLINT_ONLINE: 1plusGITHUB_TOKEN, so CI also runs the online checks (known-vulnerable actions, impostor commits, stale refs); localhk checkstays offline. To run them locally:JACTIONLINT_ONLINE=1 GITHUB_TOKEN=$(gh auth token) hk check --all. 2.1.0 reports nothing new on this repo, offline or online.AI-assisted — Tool: Claude Code; model: anthropic/claude-sonnet-5-5; version: claude-code_2-1-293_agent.

Tooling and workflow-only changes; no application runtime or data-path impact beyond stricter lint and optional GitHub API checks in CI.
Overview
Upgrades workflow linting to jactionlint 2.1.0 (lockfile refresh) and aligns hk config with hk@2.5.0 so the
jactionlintstep can useCommandSpecfor a separatejactionlint --fixwrite path alongside the read-only check.CI now adds a
concurrencyblock so superseded runs per ref are cancelled (addressing a finding from the stricter v2 default rules). The lint job also setsJACTIONLINT_ONLINE=1andGITHUB_TOKENso online security checks run in CI only; localhk checkstays offline unless those env vars are set manually.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 1eafe53.
