**Mulch is a passive layer.** It does not contain an LLM. Agents use Mulch — Mulch does not use agents.

Mulch is also the memory layer inside [Warren](https://github.com/jayminwest/warren), which runs coding agents as isolated workloads on infrastructure you control. A `.mulch/` directory in a project turns it on there.
