I hope that one day God touches your heart and you release a Windows build. I absolutely LOVE this game, and your recompilation is the only one of its kind. But I barely know how to use Windows properly, so imagine me trying to use Linux. 😭

There's a community Windows fork at github.com/Ell/RingOut that people are
using today. It isn't mine, I haven't verified it and I can't support it, but
someone in #2 is playing on Windows with it right now, and in #5 another person
compared it to their own port and concluded it was further along than what they
were building. That's the honest state of Windows: it exists, just not from me.

On my side, the same answer I gave in #3 rather than a new one: a Windows
version isn't scheduled, and I'd rather say so plainly than give you a date I'd
miss. It isn't a recompile — it's a second platform to keep working, and doing it
badly would cost the Linux side, which is the part people are actually running.

One thing worth knowing whichever route you take: you need your own disc image
of the game. That's not a hoop anyone is making you jump through for fun — the
recompiled code is built from your copy, and that's what makes this legal to
share at all. So whatever you use, that part doesn't go away.

If you do try the fork and get stuck, their tracker is the place for it rather
than here — I genuinely can't debug someone else's build, and you'll get better
answers from the people who made it.

Update, since I've said this elsewhere on the tracker and I don't want the
answers here to go stale.

Windows has moved up: it is what I plan to work on next. That's a change
from "planned but not scheduled" — not because anything about the difficulty
changed, but because the Linux side has reached the point I was waiting for. The
launcher and controller bugs are fixed, 1.5.2 is out, and the remaining Linux
work is features rather than firefighting.

I still won't give a date. What I can say is that it's next in the queue rather
than somewhere over the horizon, and two things make it a revival rather than a
fresh start: the workflow, packaging script, installer and launcher are all
still in the repo, and someone in #5 has built a tool that automates a Windows
build and offered it to me.

In the meantime, github.com/Ell/RingOut is a community Windows fork people are
playing on today. It isn't mine and I can't support it, but it exists and it
works for people.
