About The Project

A React-based real-time AI code review categorized by severity.

Built to explore integrating LLMs into developer workflows. It also experiments with modern UI component libraries to improve responsiveness and visual feedback during AI-generated review states.

Limitations:

• This is a free tier LLM API, so it takes a bit to response.
• Code to be reviewed has a 20,000 character limit
• A rate limit is present: 10 requests/60 seconds

Getting Started

Follow these steps to set up the project locally and connect it to the Cohere API using Vercel.

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following installed:

• Node.js (v18 or later)
• npm

npm install npm@latest -g

• Vercel account (free tier)
• Upstash account + REST URL & token

Installation

1. Create a Cohere API Token

• Go to the Cohere dashboard
• Sign up or log in
• Navigate to the API Keys section
• Generate a new API key

⚠️ Keep this token secure — you’ll use it as an environment variable.

2. Set Up a Vercel Account

• Go to Vercel and create an account

• Install the Vercel CLI (optional but recommended):

npm install -g vercel

• Log in via CLI:

vercel login

3. Clone the Repository

git clone https://github.com/ivanaogrizovic/trycatch.git
cd trycatch

4. Add Environment Variable in Vercel

• In your Vercel dashboard, create a new project (or import your repo)
• Go to Project Settings → Environment Variables
• Add your Cohere API key and your Redis url and key:

Name: CO_API_KEY
Value: your_api_key
Name: UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_URL
Value: your_url
Name: UPSTASH_REDIS_REST_TOKEN
Value: your_token

• Save and deploy your project

5. Install Dependencies

npm install

6. Run the project

Start both the React app and Vercel:

vercel dev

Usage

You can use this app to get a code review on any programming language.

Please be aware that it's leveraging a free LLM, so the response times can be a quite long at times.But they do come through! 😊
