Summary

  • Workflow: .github/workflows/tests.yml runs pyflakes src tests and pytest without a display (QT_QPA_PLATFORM=offscreen).
    • It runs on every pull request and on every push to main, and it can also be started by hand.
  • Two jobs, one per kind of Qt binding:
    • PyQt5 on Python 3.10: the oldest Python for which imas-core, required by imas-python 2.3, has wheels. This is also the closest to a cluster with an older stack.
    • PySide6 on Python 3.12.
  • Setup: the Qt libraries the offscreen platform loads (EGL, GL, xkbcommon, fontconfig) are installed with apt. pip downloads are cached on pyproject.toml.
  • README: a status badge, and a line in Development.

Notes

  • The tests need no network: the synthetic data is written by the tests, and the ITER 134173/106 training data ships with imas-python.
  • Until now each PR was checked by hand in three local environments (dev, clean PySide6, PyQt5). From now on every PR shows its checks.

Test plan

  • The workflow file parses as YAML.
  • Both jobs pass on this pull request. I'll check the run and fix it if needed.

On every pull request and push to main, with PyQt5 on Python 3.10 and
with PySide6 on Python 3.12, without a display (offscreen). imas-core,
which imas-python needs, has wheels from Python 3.10 on. The README shows
the status.
