✨ Updates on the Main Branch

The main branch has a lot of new updates.

I would appreciate it if you continue testing and helping me spot and clean up bugs.

The last more stable version for GNOME 49 is available on the g49 branch.

If you need a more stable version, you may also download from EGO.
To prevent auto-updates, edit the metadata.json file manually and set "version": 200.
If you want to re-enable updates later, simply remove and reinstall Dash2Dock Animated.

🚀 Major Changes

1. Better Compiz Magic Lamp animation compatibility
   Now works at any dock placement, not just bottom.
2. Improved Blur My Shell compatibility
   Starting from GNOME 46.
3. Removed our built-in background blurring
   Lightens the extension and improves startup.
4. Improved rendering for lower framerates / older hardware
5. Added config.json
   Lets you override settings not exposed in the extension UI (e.g., default file explorer, custom icons, etc.).
6. Added icons.json
7. Icon size can now be changed manually via config.json.
8. Added style.css
   You can manually customize styling—e.g., use a custom dock background image or tweak icon shadows. (Possible in theory, but untested.)

🌱 Minor New Features

1. Focused app ring (may be disabled for now due to some bugs)
2. Improved multi-monitor behavior for icon click and scroll
3. Transparent backgrounds in Overview

🔮 Planned Changes

1. Top bar customization may be removed
   Other extensions handle this better. Please post suggestions for compatible and well-maintained alternatives.
2. Ultrawide monitor support
   (If I get one for Christmas 😄)

🐞 Bug Fixes

1. Fix issues with 1440p monitors #234,..?? Several others that I could no longer remember. Please close issues you opened if they got fixed already :)
2. 90+ issues - some fixed, many investigated already, some placed at the back burner if not too critical

🎉 Why so many changes?

We hit 500k downloads (mostly updates, but still!).
I figured we should celebrate with… more bugs—

I compare latest version on github with v81(From gnome extesion page), dock works very slowly in the last version. Please install v81 version from gnome extesion site and check it!.

I think you slowed down speed to reduce cpu usage. but that doesn't sound like a good idea. I'm okay with the high CPU usage, just revert it back to its previous state.

Also, revert the indicator dots changes you made here. Because dots get too close to icons, it doesn't look good. The old version was better.

Please test the main branch. Both speed and dots ossues have been addressed already. This isn't v82 as I will hold off updating EGO until bugs have been fixed

Low CPU usage is number one priority for me. I've overhauled the animation countless of times already just to reduce CPU usage.

Animation now more strictly follows delta time.
Dots and badge placement now scale with the icon. These are important changes.
We will improve from here. Speed up and adjust the position. No more revert.

@unixr77 I added 'speed-up' in config.json . For manually tweaking the animation speed. Similar to tweaking the icon-size outside of our settings panel and our default settings

I might place this 'speed-up' in the settings panel though.

I think this is exactly what I wanted. I hope you add it to in settings panel.
We can even add ultra-high-FPS setting to FPS settings
