last edit date vs first edit date

Nice tool! I tried an animation of growth of OSM in Aberdeen, Scotland https://visualize-change.hotosm.org/view/69

As the tool uses the last edit date to determine when to display a road, and major roads have had very recent updates for road surface, it makes it look like they only appeared this year. Should/could the first edit date be either optionally used, or both first and last edit dates with a different colour?

It might be that the tool is only intended to highlight recency of data rather than growth over time, but as a first-time user I assumed it was the latter and was subsequently surprised.

This is a great suggestion @jnicho02 ! This is definitely something we will look into as we strive to provide a better and clearer representation the data (and its version) that is being visualised through the tool. Please feel free to get involved and contribute to the code if you are interested!
