A plant identification tool for the Light Phone III: point it at a plant, snap a photo, and get its common name, scientific name, and family via the Pl@ntNet API. Save identifications to by adding plants to your Collection.
- Photos you take with this tool are submitted for identification to a third party service, the Pl@ntNet API.
- The current plan being used by the tool supports up to 500 identifications per day across all users. If enough people start using the tool, I will evaluate how to proceed to increase usage limits.
- Currently the tool operates in black and white. Eventually I may determine a way to allow colors to be displayed, but I plan to try to always keep the black and white as an option, or possibly the default.
- Download and install the APK. Grab the latest release from the releases page and install it on your device.
- Grant camera access the first time you open the tool - it's required to identify plants.
- Over 50,000 identifiable species
- Plant identification via the Pl@ntNet API (common name, scientific name, family, match confidence)
- Save identified plants to your Collection with photo, date, and details
- Location field in Settings (informational only - used to help judge whether a plant is native to your area)
