Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When working in a GitHub issue or PR buffer, it’s hard to follow the relationships between related items. I often want to jump from an issue to:
- its parent or child issues
- the PR that closes it
- issues/PRs mentioned in the thread
- linked issues/PRs that are related but not explicitly closed
- cross-repo references
Right now, snacks.gh is great for browsing and acting on individual issues/PRs, but it does not provide a first-class way to navigate the surrounding issue/PR graph. That makes it harder to understand the full context of a bug or feature without switching to the GitHub web UI.
Describe the solution you'd like
Add a “linked items” navigator in GitHub issue/PR buffers that can detect and navigate related issues and PRs directly from Neovim.
Examples:
#123 / owner/repo#123
- full GitHub issue/PR URLs
fixes #123, closes #123, resolves #123
- parent/child issue relationships
- linked PRs that close an issue
- issues/PRs mentioned in comments or descriptions
- cross-repo references
- reverse navigation from issue → PR and PR → issues
I’d expect this to work similarly to a “go to related item” feature:
- click or select a reference
- open the linked issue/PR in a buffer
- optionally show a list of related items for the current issue/PR
- keep navigation within the editor instead of forcing a browser round-trip
Describe alternatives you've considered
- Keeping this as a browser-only workflow
- Using GitHub’s web UI for linked issue/PR navigation
- Only supporting explicit
#123 references, without linked issue metadata or parent/child relationships
These are all workable, but they don’t fit the “all GitHub workflow from Neovim” goal of snacks.gh.
Additional context
This would be especially useful for:
- tracking issues with parent/sub-issue trees
- triaging bugs where a PR closes multiple issues
- following issue references across repos
- reading the full context of a long-running issue thread without leaving Neovim
