feat: let Claude and Codex peek at the weekly window - #124
Closes#32. When the island is collapsed, Claude and Codex always peek at the 5-hour window. Some people mostly care about the weekly limit.
This adds a per-provider Peek and alerts: 5-hour / Weekly picker for Claude and Codex in Settings → Providers. It works like the existing "Peek and alerts" picker for Grok, Antigravity and Muse.
The picker appears only when the plan reports both a 5-hour and a weekly window. Weekly-only and 5-hour-only plans keep using the one window they have.
The collapsed peek follows the choice: the percentage, the reset countdown, the 7d label when there is no reset time, and the VoiceOver label. So do the island's warning tint and threshold alerts, in line with the AGENTS.md rule that peek and alerts follow the selected metric. Claude Enterprise monthly credit alerts still run on their own.
If the chosen window has no reading, the peek falls back to another reported window that has one and labels it correctly. This matches the existing 5-hour → weekly fallback.
Changing the choice silently re-seeds the alert crossing memory for that provider's window only. A window that was already over its threshold doesn't pulse just because the user switched to it.
The default stays 5-hour, so existing users see no change.
Implementation notes:
New PeekWindowStore saves the choice under MacIsland.peekWindows.v1, per Codex account when the credential names one (tokens.account_id), otherwise per provider. Codex alert crossing memory is also kept per account, and saved usage history is never loaded under a different account than the one that recorded it.
AppUsage.peekWindow / peekWindowKind / peekWindowIsWeekly are replaced by peekWindow(preferring:) / peekWindowKind(preferring:). This way no call site can ignore the user's choice by accident. With .fiveHour they behave exactly as before.
The Codex alert input now passes its windowKind, the same as Claude's. Crossing memory stays separate per window.
The alerts settings subtitle no longer says "5-hour". New strings have English and Simplified Chinese translations. Both READMEs and the CHANGELOG are updated.
The idea from the issue thread of comparing usage % with elapsed time % is not part of this PR.
Verification
Checks and results:
scripts/run-tests.sh: the new routing cases pass. They cover the weekly preference on two-window plans, falling back to 5h when weekly has no reading, keeping the chosen identity when neither window has a reading, single-window plans ignoring the choice, and Enterprise with monthly credits. All existing peek/alert routing cases still pass.
CurrencyStoreTests (chf in de_CH) and three credit-caption checks in EnterpriseUsageTests fail on my machine (macOS 26.6). They fail the same way on unmodified main, so they look like locale-formatting differences there, not something this branch caused.
Universal app build (./build.sh) succeeds.
Steps to verify:
Sign in to an account whose plan reports both 5-hour and weekly windows. Open Settings → Providers and set Claude (or Codex) Peek and alerts to Weekly.
Hover the notch. The pill shows the weekly percentage and a days-scale reset countdown. VoiceOver reads "weekly window".
With alerts on and the weekly usage above the warning threshold, the tint follows weekly. Switching back and forth doesn't fire a pulse.
On a weekly-only or 5-hour-only plan, the picker is hidden and the peek doesn't change.
Not verified: I haven't tried it yet in the running app with real accounts. Also not checked: the picker layout in Settings and VoiceOver output.
Codex with both 5-hour and weekly windows wasn't tried in the running app. The Codex account used for testing is on a weekly-only plan, so its picker stays hidden there. The automated routing tests cover the two-window case.
Screenshots (required for UI changes)
Risks
Low. This only changes behavior when the user picks Weekly. Missing or invalid stored values fall back to 5-hour.
The prefs key is new, so no migration is needed.
Codex quota history saved before this change has no recorded account, so the first Codex poll that identifies the account replaces it. Codex users lose up to a week of quota chart history once after updating. Claude history is unaffected.
Switching the choice silently re-seeds only that provider's newly selected window for one evaluation. Other providers' windows, and Claude's monthly credits, still pulse if they genuinely cross in that same evaluation.
Checklist
I read CLAUDE.md and the applicable AGENTS.md guidance.
I included verification results and any remaining limitations.
For UI changes, I attached the required screenshots (otherwise N/A).
I removed credentials and private data from code, logs, and screenshots.
Choose whether Claude and Codex previews show the 5-hour or weekly window when both are available. Codex choices are saved per account.
Preview tint and limit alerts follow the selected window. Claude Enterprise monthly credit alerts remain independent, and changing the selection won’t trigger a duplicate alert.
Bug Fixes
Codex usage readings and alert history stay associated with the correct account when switching accounts or refreshing usage.
Documentation
Settings and usage guidance explain the preview options and which usage window alerts follow.
Added localized “5-hour” and “Weekly” labels, and updated alert descriptions to cover peeked usage and Enterprise monthly credits.
Add a per-provider "Peek and alerts" choice (5-hour or Weekly) for Claude
and Codex in Settings > Providers, matching the existing picker for
configurable providers. It appears only when the plan reports both
windows; single-window plans keep using the one they have.
The collapsed peek, its window-length fallback and VoiceOver label, the
silhouette tint, and threshold alerts all follow the chosen window. When
the chosen window has no reading, the peek falls back to another reported
window and labels it truthfully. Changing the choice re-seeds alert
crossing memory silently so a window already above threshold does not
pulse.

Summary
Usage selection and account identity Sources/Usage/AppUsage.swift, Sources/Usage/UsageFetcher.swift, Sources/Usage/UsageHistory.swift, Sources/Usage/UsageStore.swift, Tests/CodexWindowRoutingTests.swift
Usage selection accepts a preferred window and tracks retained readings. Codex fetch, merge, and history paths carry account identity. Tests cover selection, account changes, and account-aware history.
The store persists supported window choices by provider and account scope. Settings expose the picker when both windows are available, and the collapsed overlay uses the stored choice. Documentation, translations, and tests describe or check the choices.
Alert recomputation uses the selected Claude or Codex window. Selection changes reseed crossing state, weekly windows allow resetless crossings, and Codex crossing identity includes account scope.
Upgraded accounts can show or retain another account’s usage history, and switching token-only credentials during a request can show stale readings. Address these account-isolation gaps before merging.

The title states the main change: Claude and Codex can now show the weekly usage window in the collapsed peek. The title is specific, short, and matches the changeset, so it passes.

Explanation
Issue #32 asks for an option to show weekly limits in the collapsed island, which currently shows only 5-hour limits. The whole-PR diff (mergeBase ec09cb6 to head baa5e31) adds a per-provider Peek and alerts picker for Claude and Codex in ProviderSelectionView. The picker offers 5-hour and Weekly and appears only when both windows are reported and the scope is resolved. PeekWindowStore persists the choice. AppUsage.peekWindow(preferring:) and peekWindowKind(preferring:) route the collapsed peek, reset countdown, 7d label, VoiceOver identity, warning tint, and threshold alerts to the selected window. Fallback to another reported window with a reading is implemented and labeled. The default remains 5-hour, and single-window plans ignore the choice. Automated routing cases in CodexWindowRoutingTests and EnterpriseUsageTests cover the weekly preference, fallback, single-window plans, and Enterprise credits. Issue #32 states no further coding criteria. Limits: I did not run the tests. The assessment relies on the diff summary and the author's reported results. The author did not verify the feature in the running app with a two-window Codex plan.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changes connect to issue #32 or to the feature behavior described in the PR. The picker, PeekWindowStore, AppUsage routing methods, IslandRootView, and AlertEngine input changes implement the selectable window. Localization strings and the alerts subtitle describe the new behavior. README, README.zh-CN, and CHANGELOG document the new option. Account-scoped Codex preference and crossing memory, the account-changed fetch error, and history ownership checks in UsageHistory and UsageStore protect the per-account choice from leaking across accounts. The AlertEngine change that allows resetless weekly crossings supports the 7d label and alert behavior for a weekly window without a reset time. Claude Enterprise monthly credit alerts stay separate, as the PR states. The tests cover these paths. No change is shown to be unrelated to the feature. The account-scoping and resetless-crossing changes reach beyond the picker itself, so a reviewer should confirm that they do not change behavior for other providers. This is a review point, not a demonstrated out-of-scope change.

Handle resetless weekly crossings
When a two-window Codex response includes a weekly percentage but omits reset_at (which parseCodexWindow accepts), choosing Weekly routes that value here with .weekly, but WindowInput.permitsResetlessCrossings is false for Codex and evaluateCrossings drops it at the reset guard. The severity tint changes, yet the warning/critical pulse can never fire; track a resetless selected window once and only rearm it after an observed drop.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in d702c24: WindowInput.permitsResetlessCrossings now includes .weekly, so a weekly window without reset_at uses the same path as monthly and Muse windows: a crossing pulses once, rearms only after an observed reading drops below the threshold, and a failed poll cannot rearm it. Tests cover the first crossing, the repeat, and the rearm.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Scope silent warmup to the changed provider
If a monthly or other-provider poll finishes after the picker publication but before this queued task runs, this all-input recompute sees the fresh threshold crossing with the engine-wide warmedUp == false; evaluateCrossings records its key without a pulse, and the poll's later recompute treats it as already crossed. Changing one provider's display choice can therefore consume an independent one-shot alert, so only the changed provider/window should be silently reseeded.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in d702c24: a peek window change no longer resets the engine-wide warmedUp. The PeekWindowStore subscription diffs the old and new choices and marks only the changed providers. The next evaluation passes their selected windows to evaluateCrossings as reseedingWindows, which records their crossings without a pulse line. Another provider's window, or Claude's monthly credits, still pulses if it crosses in that same evaluation. A test covers this.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Hide the picker until both windows are discovered
When an initial fetch or terminal-auth refresh returns UsageFetcher.errorPair, both failed entries have errors other than "no data" and there is no reportedWindows, so visibleWindows contains both and this condition renders the 5-hour/Weekly picker even though the provider reported neither window. A weekly-only account can consequently gain a bogus 5-hour choice exactly during failure; gate this control on discovered reported windows or actual readings instead.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in d702c24: the picker is now gated on a new AppUsage.offersPeekWindowChoice, which requires both rate windows in reportedWindows, or real readings for both while windows are not yet discovered. An errorPair failure before discovery, a weekly-only plan, or a 5-hour-only plan no longer shows the 5-hour/Weekly choice. Tests cover these cases.
- Let weekly windows alert without reset metadata, rearming only after
an observed drop, as monthly and Muse windows already do.
- Silently reseed only the provider whose peek window changed, so the
switch cannot swallow another window's genuine crossing.
- Show the peek window picker only once both rate windows are
discovered, not while a failed fetch leaves both as errors.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Partition resetless crossing memory by account
When two Codex accounts both expose the selected weekly window without reset_at, account A can record a warning at 85%, then a poll of account B at 10% removes A's provider/window crossing key in evaluateCrossings; switching back to unchanged account A then emits the warning again even though that quota never dropped or reset. Include account identity in WindowInput/CrossingKey (or isolate the memory on account changes) so another account's low reading cannot rearm this resetless crossing.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 77592ec: Codex usage now carries the account from the credential's tokens.account_id, the same value sent as ChatGPT-Account-Id. The Codex alert input passes that account scope as metricID, which upstream already uses to keep crossing memory apart for connected providers, so another account's low reading can no longer rearm a resetless crossing. A failed fetch keeps the prior account together with the readings it carries. Tests cover the A → B → A sequence and that one account's memory does not suppress another's crossing. Claude has no stable account identity in the credentials the app reads, so Claude stays provider-wide as before.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Scope peek-window preferences to each account
When a user selects Weekly for Codex account A and later changes the CLI's selected account to B, this dictionary and its persisted form are keyed only by IslandProvider, so B inherits A's peek/alert metric and changing B overwrites A's choice. Key this preference by active account identity (as the configurable quota controls do via their storage scope) so each account restores the metric its user selected.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 77592ec: PeekWindowStore now keys choices by an account scope (provider plus hashed account ID, like ConnectedUsage.storageScope). Switching Codex accounts restores each account's own choice, and changing one no longer overwrites another's. Credentials that name no account (and Claude, as above) keep the provider-wide key. The silent alert reseed on a picker change now also targets only the changed account's scope.
- Tag Codex usage with the credential's account_id, the same value sent
as ChatGPT-Account-Id, and keep it through failed fetches alongside
the readings it carries.
- Store the peek window choice per Codex account, so switching accounts
restores that account's choice instead of inheriting another's.
- Partition Codex crossing memory by account, so another account's low
resetless weekly reading cannot rearm a crossing.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Clear the old account scope after unscoped success
When a user switches from account A to a supported token-only Codex credential with no account_id and refreshes successfully, fetchCodex returns fresh windows with accountID == nil, but this fallback retains A's ID indefinitely. PeekWindowStore.scope and the Codex alert metricID consequently apply A's saved window and crossing memory to the new/default backend account; retain the prior ID only when the poll actually carries prior readings, and let a successful unscoped response clear it.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 1bf22e8: AppUsage.merged now keeps the prior account only when the fetch failed (no reportedWindows), which is when it carries the prior readings. A successful response takes its own accountID, so an unscoped token-only credential clears A's ID and falls back to the provider-wide peek choice and alert memory. A test covers it.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Preserve selected zero readings across failed polls
When the chosen window's last real reading is exactly 0%, a subsequent failed poll carries it as usedPercent: 0 plus an error; hasReading then becomes false, so this fallback selects the other reported window. If Weekly is selected and the retained 5-hour value is high, the peek and AlertEngine now display and alert on 5-hour usage during the outage—and can emit a new crossing pulse—even though the user selected Weekly. Preserve the selected zero as a known reading or avoid fallback for this carry-forward shape.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 1bf22e8: carryForward now marks the readings it carries as retained, and hasReading counts a retained reading even at exactly 0%. A selected window whose last real reading was 0% therefore stays selected through a failed poll (and repeated ones) instead of falling back to the other window, so the peek and AlertEngine keep following Weekly. History recording still skips readings with an error, so nothing new is persisted. Tests cover a single and a repeated failure.

- Mark readings carried past a failed poll as retained, so a real 0%
stays a reading and the peek and alerts keep the selected window
instead of falling back to the other one during an outage.
- Let a successful Codex fetch without an account_id clear the prior
account, keeping it only when a failed poll carries prior readings.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Preserve Codex account scope on failed first polls
When the first Codex poll after launch fails (offline/401/500), the credential snapshot already contains account_id, but every failure path returns errorPair before this success-only assignment. Fresh evidence is that those error results still carry no attempted account ID. With history-seeded windows, AppUsage.merged therefore leaves usage unscoped and PeekWindowStore.scope reads/writes the provider-wide codex choice rather than the saved account key, so an account that chose Weekly shows 5-hour—and edits the wrong preference—until a 200 response; propagate the credential identity through failures without relabeling prior readings from a different account.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 69f0be5: every fetchCodex failure after the credential is read now returns errorPair with the credential's account_id, so a failed first poll after launch scopes the history-seeded readings to that account and reads and writes its own peek choice. To avoid relabeling, AppUsage.merged no longer carries prior readings when the failed poll names a different account than they belong to; it shows the new account's errors instead. Tests cover a failed fetchCodex, the cold-start failure and the switched-account failure.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Retain the Enterprise monthly-alert exception
For Claude Enterprise users who select Weekly while monthly credits are over threshold, AlertEngine.recompute still evaluates .monthly alongside the selected peek window, so monthly quota correctly triggers pulse/tint independently. The new release note says alerts and tint follow the chosen window without this exception, which makes expected monthly alerts appear to disregard the setting; qualify the note and matching user-facing copy with the Enterprise monthly behavior.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 69f0be5: the CHANGELOG entry now says Claude Enterprise monthly credit alerts still run on their own. The README alerts bullet and the alerts subtitle in Settings (en + zh-Hans) now say alerts follow the peeked usage or Enterprise monthly credits.
- Failed Codex fetches now name the account the credential selects, so
a failed first poll after launch uses that account's peek choice. A
failed poll for a different account than the prior readings no longer
carries them over under the new account.
- Note in the changelog, README and alerts subtitle that Claude
Enterprise monthly credit alerts still run independently of the
chosen peek window.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Scope seeded Codex history by account
Fresh evidence after the account-merge fixes is the downstream UsageStore.seeded pass: when Codex switches from account A to an ID-bearing account B and B's first poll fails, AppUsage.merged drops A's live values, but fill reloads the latest provider-only history (which is still A's) and this line labels it with B's accountID. The B-scoped picker, peek, and alert can therefore show and act on A's quota; scope legacy usage history by account or do not seed it across the identity change.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 293a438: UsageHistoryStore now remembers which account scope last recorded each provider's history (belongs(provider:to:)). UsageStore.seeded no longer fills windows from history that another account recorded. After a failed poll for B, A's history is not loaded under B's ID. For launch seeds, whose account isn't known yet, the refresh drops them when the first poll names a different account than the history's owner. History recorded before owners were kept is still allowed, since its account can't be known. Tests cover the owner checks and the failed-poll case.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Clear scoped identity on failed token-only switches
Fresh evidence beyond the successful-unscoped-response fix is the failed request case: after account A, switching auth.json to a supported token-only credential and getting an offline/500 response produces reportedWindows == nil and accountID == nil, so this fallback retains A's account ID, readings, hashed picker entry, and alert key until a success. Treat a valid unscoped credential as the provider-wide scope even on failure rather than inheriting the prior scoped account.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 293a438: AppUsage now has accountResolved, which fetchCodex sets whenever it read a credential, on success and on every failure. A token-only credential is therefore a resolved provider-wide scope, not "unknown". merged no longer carries readings when the resolved account changes, including A → token-only. A failed poll with a token-only credential drops A's ID and readings, and the picker and alert key fall back to the provider-wide scope. Tests cover this and that a later unresolved failure keeps the provider-wide scope.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Preserve zero-valued history seeds on failed launches
When a two-window account saves Weekly at exactly 0% while 5-hour has a nonzero reading, then relaunches into a failed first poll, UsageStore.seeded reconstructs the real weekly history sample as WindowUsage(usedPercent: 0, error: "no data") without retained; this predicate classifies it as missing, so the saved Weekly selection falls back to 5-hour and peek/alerts track the wrong window. Fresh evidence beyond the earlier live failed-poll fix is this cold-start history path; mark real history seeds, including zero, as retained/known.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 293a438: UsageStore.seeded now marks history seeds as retained, the same as carried readings, so a real 0% weekly seed counts as a reading on a failed launch. The saved Weekly selection, and the peek and alerts with it, stay on Weekly. A test covers a zero seed with Weekly selected.

Defer Codex picker writes until the account is resolved
Fresh evidence is the cold-start seeded-history path: when saved 5-hour and weekly readings make offersPeekWindowChoice true before the initial async Codex fetch completes, AppUsage.empty still has accountID == nil and accountResolved == false, so this maps an ID-bearing account to the provider-wide codex key. If the user selects Weekly in that interval, the setting silently reverts when the fetch resolves to the account's hashed scope, and the provider-wide write can later affect a token-only credential; keep the picker read-only or hidden until Codex identity resolves while still treating a resolved nil ID as provider-wide.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in baa5e31: new PeekWindowStore.scopeResolved(_:usage:) is false for Codex until a fetch has resolved the credential's account. The picker in Settings is hidden until then, and PeekWindowStore.set refuses the write, so a choice made from history-seeded readings at launch can't land on the provider-wide codex key. A resolved token-only credential still counts as resolved and uses the provider-wide key. Claude has no account scope and is unaffected. Tests cover the resolution check and the refused write.
Hide the Codex peek window picker, and refuse writes, until a fetch has
resolved the credential's account. A choice made from launch seeds would
otherwise land on the provider-wide key and revert once the account's
own scope resolves.

Reject old-account responses when credentials disappear
If auth.json is removed (or is briefly unreadable during a CLI rewrite) while the request is in flight, this optional binding skips the identity check and accepts the old account's successful response. UsageStore then publishes and records that response as current without an error until a later refresh, so logging out or switching through a missing-file state lets an old async completion overwrite the connection; treat a missing second credential snapshot as stale as well.

Fixed in 7f54fe8: when the credential can't be re-read after the request returns, or is unusable (for example, half-written during a CLI rewrite, with no valid token), fetchCodex now returns errorPair("no codex auth"), the same result as a missing credential before the request, instead of applying the old account's response. A test makes the credential unreadable mid-flight.

Keep failed account switches windowless until discovery
Fresh evidence beyond the earlier picker fix is the new different-account failure path: when account A has a discovered weekly-only shape and account B's first request fails, this branch returns B's raw errorPair. Because it has reportedWindows == nil and two non-"no data" error windows, visibleWindows renders both 5-hour and Weekly tiles for B, inventing a 5-hour window until a successful B poll; represent a new account's undiscovered windows as empty instead.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in 7f54fe8: when a failed poll names a different resolved account than the prior readings, AppUsage.merged now returns it with reportedWindows = [] when nothing was discovered, so visibleWindows is empty and the panel shows "Usage limits are not available yet." instead of a 5-hour and a Weekly tile made from the error pair. Repeated failures stay windowless until a successful poll discovers B's windows. Tests cover both.
- After the usage request returns, treat a missing or unusable
credential snapshot as no credential, and compare the access token as
well as the account, so a replaced token-only credential cannot
apply the old token's response.
- Do not seed history recorded before owners were kept into a resolved
Codex account; its first recorded sample replaces it.
- Show no tiles for a newly switched account whose first poll failed,
instead of inventing both windows from the error pair.
- Let UsageHistoryStore take its UserDefaults, for isolated tests.

Accept same-account Codex token rotations
When auth.json's access token is rotated by the Codex CLI while /usage is in flight but tokens.account_id is unchanged, this comparison treats the still-current account as stale and returns codex credentials changed, discarding a valid quota response; on a cold start the quota can remain blank until the next scheduled poll. Compare token identity only for token-only credentials, or otherwise accept responses whose account ID still matches.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in e63590c: the post-request token comparison now applies only when the credential names no account, since that's the only case where the token is the identity. A Codex CLI rotation of access_token with an unchanged account_id now accepts the response. Tests cover the same-account rotation, plus replaced and unchanged token-only credentials.

Resolve the Codex account before restoring history
Fresh evidence beyond the failed-first-poll fix is the synchronous launch path: startAutoRefresh() calls seedFromHistory() while Codex is still .empty, and this unresolved branch accepts history owned by whichever account last ran. If auth was changed from A to B while the app was closed, A's percentage appears in charts/peek and can drive startup tint until B's request completes, including a full network timeout; resolve the local credential's account before seeding, or keep the cached Codex reading hidden while scope is unresolved.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in e63590c: seedFromHistory() now resolves the Codex account from the local credential before seeding, via UsageFetcher.codexLocalIdentity(). This is a local auth.json read with no request. With the account resolved, belongs(provider:to:) rejects history recorded by another account, or by no recorded account, so A's percentage isn't shown, charted or tinted under B while B's first request is in flight. Without a usable local credential the account stays unresolved, as before. Tests cover the resolution for an account, a token-only credential and an unusable credential.
…aunch
- Compare the Codex access token across a request only for token-only
credentials, so a CLI token rotation for the same account no longer
discards a valid response.
- Before seeding from history at launch, resolve the account from the
local credential (no request), so history recorded by another account
is not shown until the first poll lands.

Recheck credentials when the Codex request throws
When account A's request throws after auth.json has switched to B (for example, the account changes during an offline or timing-out poll), execution bypasses the post-response identity check and this catch tags the result with A. AppUsage.merged then treats it as a same-account failure and keeps A's readings and scope visible under B until another refresh; re-read the credential in the error path just as in the response path. Fresh evidence beyond the earlier stale-success path is that a thrown send never reaches the validation at lines 24–30.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in cca4cea: the post-request credential check is now a local changedCredential() in fetchCodex, and it runs in the catch path as well as after a response. A request that throws after auth.json switched from A to B now returns B's resolved codex credentials changed error, so merged drops A's readings and scope instead of treating the failure as A's. A test switches the credential and then throws a timeout.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Verify the active account before saving peek choices
If auth.json is switched from account A to B while the app is running, cached usage remains accountResolved for A until the asynchronous refresh finishes; while Settings is open, this predicate therefore leaves the picker writable and set hashes A, so a choice made for B silently changes A's preference and snaps back when B's response arrives. Fresh evidence beyond the cold-start case is this resolved-but-stale interval; revalidate the local credential scope or disable the write while identity is refreshing.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Fixed in cca4cea: PeekWindowStore.scopeResolved now also compares the cached usage's account with the local credential (UsageFetcher.codexLocalIdentity(), a local auth.json read). While they differ, as in the interval after a switch before the refresh lands, the picker is hidden and set refuses the write, so a choice can't land on A's key. The local identity is an injectable parameter, so tests cover the matching, switched and missing-credential cases.
- Run the post-request credential check when the usage request throws
too, so a failure after an account switch is reported for the new
account instead of keeping the old account's readings.
- Treat the Codex peek choice as unresolved while cached usage names a
different account than the local credential, so the picker is hidden
and writes are refused until the refresh lands.

Summary
Closes #32.
7dlabel when there is no reset time, and the VoiceOver label. So do the island's warning tint and threshold alerts, in line with the AGENTS.md rule that peek and alerts follow the selected metric. Claude Enterprise monthly credit alerts still run on their own.Implementation notes:
PeekWindowStoresaves the choice underMacIsland.peekWindows.v1, per Codex account when the credential names one (tokens.account_id), otherwise per provider. Codex alert crossing memory is also kept per account, and saved usage history is never loaded under a different account than the one that recorded it.AppUsage.peekWindow/peekWindowKind/peekWindowIsWeeklyare replaced bypeekWindow(preferring:)/peekWindowKind(preferring:). This way no call site can ignore the user's choice by accident. With.fiveHourthey behave exactly as before.windowKind, the same as Claude's. Crossing memory stays separate per window. The idea from the issue thread of comparing usage % with elapsed time % is not part of this PR.
Verification
scripts/run-tests.sh: the new routing cases pass. They cover the weekly preference on two-window plans, falling back to 5h when weekly has no reading, keeping the chosen identity when neither window has a reading, single-window plans ignoring the choice, and Enterprise with monthly credits. All existing peek/alert routing cases still pass.CurrencyStoreTests(chf in de_CH) and three credit-caption checks inEnterpriseUsageTestsfail on my machine (macOS 26.6). They fail the same way on unmodifiedmain, so they look like locale-formatting differences there, not something this branch caused../build.sh) succeeds.Screenshots (required for UI changes)
