Ignore touchpad while typing setting not working as expected

What Happened?

I frequently have accidental touches on my touchpad while typing. I turned on the Touchpad > Ignore > While typing setting, expecting it to prevent accidental touches, but it does not.

Steps to Reproduce

Go to Touchpad > Ignore > While typing setting.
Check the box.
Begin typing
Move the mouse using the touchpad
Expected: mouse does not move or click
Actual: mouse is able to move and click

Expected Behavior

The mouse should not be able to move or click via the touchpad while the Touchpad > Ignore > While typing seting is checked.

I think this really needs some attention as this is some of the very big annoyances working in Linux (MACos and Windows do it better on this part and that should not be the case :-) ) .
With the help of Claude I created a (not perfect, still wip) script what runs as a daemon, but this has still some bugs. If interrested, I will share my progress, but it needs an interface as this is just a script with a pausing setting and you must find the trackpad youself.

The Good news: Claude can't make it bugfree, so AI lost in this case.
The bad news, since stepping to Wayland this part of the OS needs rework.
Is this planned?

I do not have this is issue using the daily version of OS8, on either Classic or Wayland. Looking at the code, all it does is toggle the Gnome setting "org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.touchpad.disable-while-typing". You might want to check with dconf-editor or otherwise that this plug is toggling that setting as expected. If the setting is correctly toggled but does not have the desired effect it is really an upstream issue I guess. Or there has been an unreleased fix merged.

@roelofz This issue can occur for specific devices for reasons outside the scope of this project it seems. See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=300477 for example for possible solutions.

Yeah this makes sense. The setting is toggling correctly, but just isn't working for my specific devices it seems. Thanks for the thread; I hadn't run into that one. I'll check it out!
