## Summary - address the actionable Codecov comment on #542 - pass the already-narrowed leading block into the removal helper - remove the unreachable defensive branch instead of adding an impossible test ## Validation - focused prepare suite: 14 passed - focused V8 coverage: no uncovered `prepare.ts` line reported - Biome CI: passed - TypeScript typecheck: passed Follow-up to #542 and #537.
