Summary

Prepare terminaltrees 1.0.0 with a compatibility commitment for documented environments and options. The manual derives its version from the package metadata.

Clarify comments about layout constraints, fitting, image generation and CI without changing tree geometry or fitting behavior. The checker’s help description also receives a punctuation change.

Verification

• The preview checker passed from both the checkout and extracted distribution, including all ten expected-rejection cases.
• The distribution rebuilt successfully with 29 manifest-defined entries and matching source files.
• All nine manual and fitting-comparison pages are pixel-identical to the preceding release candidate.
• Executable-content comparisons found no logic changes. Preview checks do not require byte equality with the checked-in SVG.

This PR prepares the release. It does not publish a tag, GitHub Release or CTAN upload.
