FR: restrict switching from specific workspace

yes, i'm still trying to improve my workflow with accuracy and all of that with style of course 😉 ,
i'm using an extension called quack-mode, which allow me to make any application, a drop down application,
i already bind some of them to keyboard shortcut, and i would specially liked if i could use my switcher to cycle between them.

what if we can be able to restrict switching application from a specific workspace only.
those application are in "all workspace" layer, so if i can restrict my switcher to only toggle application from that workspace i should be able to cycle between them,

Hi @JE-Amouel! I'm a little confused. Right now, you can choose to cycle between all windows on all workspaces or only windows on the current workspace. You want to be able to display windows from a specific, named workspace?

😅, my bad, generally window visible from all workspace are part of a workspace named by default "all workspace", and yes I would like to restrict cycling window from a specific workspace which is not my current workspace neither all window across all active workspaces,

Still confused though :). How do you envision all of this working? Like you get to pick a workspace from preferences? Pick by workspace number (I think that's the only way to refer to a specific workspace)? I also do not understand how the windows on all workspaces works in relation to the named workspace "all workspaces". Can you explain or show my what you mean somehow?

I'm really sorry for the lack of clarity. I wanted to suggest that we have a dbus method to circulate all windows in all workspaces, one for the windows in the current workspace, and another for windows in all workspaces. The workspace named "all workspace" only contains windows that have been pinned using the "always on visible workspace" option, making them visible in all workspaces.

Gotcha! I can do this pretty easily if the goal is to cycle between windows on all workspaces.

@JE-Amouel, I have this feature working in a branch: https://github.com/dsheeler/CoverflowAltTab/tree/add-switching-between-the-windows-visible-on-all-workspaces. There is a dbus trigger:

$ gdbus call --session --dest org.gnome.Shell.Extensions.Coverflowalttab --object-path /org/gnome/Shell/Extensions/Coverflowalttab --method org.gnome.Shell.Extensions.Coverflowalttab.launch "windows-on-all-workspaces"

You can also go into prefs and set a key combination to launch in this mode.

Try it out. Are you good with installing from a git branch to try it?
