👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! 🚨 Severity: HIGH
💡 Vulnerability: Command-line password exposure in
mysqldumpcommand insrc/codomyrmex/database_management/backup/backup_manager.py. Passing a password via-ptomysqldumpallows the password to be visible in plaintext to anyone who runsps, top, or views system logs while the command is executing.🎯 Impact: An attacker with low privileges could view the database password, potentially leading to unauthorized access.
🔧 Fix: Removed the
-pargument from themysqldumpcommand. Instead, the password is provided via theMYSQL_PWDenvironment variable by explicitly passingenv=envtosubprocess.run(), keeping the password hidden from process listings.✅ Verification: Ran
uv run ruff checkanduv run pytest src/codomyrmex/tests/unit/database_management/and ensured that all tests pass.PR created automatically by Jules for task 7191871047980588522 started by @docxology
