fix: stricter local API, import and download defaults; 0.5.7 notes - #2674
Conversation
Validate remote file names and etags in the segmented snapshot downloader and prove every target stays under the cache. Send the Hugging Face token only to Hugging Face hosts, require HTTPS mirror URLs without credentials, bound voice bundle imports by entry count and size, and fail closed on an unreadable GGUF checksum manifest.
…argets - Refuse state-changing requests and WebSocket handshakes whose Origin or Sec-Fetch-Site marks another site, for every auth configuration; GET routes that start work refuse cross-site fetch metadata too. - Require an allowed Host name for requests authorized only by network position (OMNIVOICE_ALLOWED_HOSTS adds names); credentialed requests and the public UI shell are exempt. - Validate URL imports: http(s) only, public destinations only unless OMNIVOICE_ALLOW_PRIVATE_URL_IMPORTS=1, enforced again at connect time inside yt-dlp and on resolved media URLs; pass URLs after "--". - Accept media extensions only for gallery and dubbing uploads, stop returning server paths from gallery imports, and limit ws/tts emo_audio to the app's voices and outputs folders. - Apply the same checks in the Electron dev backend proxy.
…sions before joining paths

…POINT Token validation, saving the Hub login and gated-access checks pinned no endpoint, so a mirror saved as HF_ENDPOINT received the token. They now call huggingface.co explicitly; the pyannote load passes the token only for a Hugging Face endpoint.
…a mirror An automatically picked mirror cannot serve a gated repository because it never receives the token, so gated catalogue installs use huggingface.co unless the user chose a mirror. On a chosen mirror the failure reports HF_MIRROR_GATED and points to the mirror setting instead of the token.
URL imports now keep every fetch inside yt-dlp's native downloaders, where the connect-time destination check applies: external downloaders are switched off and refused, live streams and non-native protocols are rejected with a clear message, and a download that turns out to be a playlist or manifest is refused before ffmpeg can read it. Gallery clips download the audio track and are cut locally by ffmpeg restricted to local files, replacing --download-sections.
…xies in the host check Docker Desktop and Podman reach the desktop backend as a loopback peer addressed by host.docker.internal / host.containers.internal, and a reverse proxy on the same machine forwards the client's Host with its API key. Both were refused by the host check. Allow the reserved .internal container aliases by default, and skip the host check for any peer that presents a valid API key, admin session, WebSocket ticket or share PIN; requests without a valid credential stay host-checked. The refusal now names the user env file for desktop installs. Dub stem, segment and preview downloads, Ogg/Opus encoding, profile-image search, storage rescans, HF token checks and Tailscale status also refuse cross-site GETs. Docs list the guarded routes and where to set OMNIVOICE_ALLOWED_HOSTS.
The gallery and dubbing allowlist refused real media such as .m4b (the app's own audiobook export), .mka, .ac3, .mp2, .asf, .f4v and .mxf, while voice-profile and batch uploads accepted any plain extension. Widen MEDIA_EXTS to the containers the audio/video pickers offer and ffmpeg demuxes, apply it to profile, batch and dub preview uploads as well, and answer refusals with 415 everywhere. Audio-only dubbing uses the same audio list. The /system/set-env refusal for engine folders now says to set the variable in the backend environment or use the one-click installer.

…ist uploads Every ffmpeg/ffprobe input now carries -protocol_whitelist file, pipe: the shared spawn helpers add it centrally and synchronous call sites wrap their argv with local_inputs_only(). Dubbing, preview and batch uploads, the dub pipeline source check and require_audio_stream refuse playlists and manifests named like media, reusing the URL-import prefix check. A source scan test keeps new call sites on the wrapper. The host refusal message also names the Windows env file location.

…rify refusal messages Split UI/API deployments (OMNIVOICE_PUBLIC_API_BASE) load video previews and downloads with GETs that carry no Origin, only Sec-Fetch-Site, so they were refused even with the UI origin in OMNIVOICE_ALLOWED_ORIGINS. Without an Origin, a request whose Referer origin is on the same allowlist now passes; a missing or foreign Referer is still refused. The private-address URL import message now says where desktop users set OMNIVOICE_ALLOW_PRIVATE_URL_IMPORTS (shared with the host-name message) and that VPN or proxy apps in TUN/fake-IP mode can cause it. The #2618 offload tests stub torch.cuda so a CUDA host with free VRAM no longer changes their result. Docs: reverse proxies in OMNIVOICE_TRUSTED_NETWORKS need their host name in OMNIVOICE_ALLOWED_HOSTS, split deployments list the UI origin, LAN guests open the share link by IP, and engine folders are set in the env file. Changelog: cite #2419 for work that shipped through it, add upgrade steps, the Windows ARM64 installer row and the #2609 credit, and split the URL import entry.

Final changes for v0.5.7: stricter defaults for the local API, URL imports, model downloads and remote workers, plus the finished release notes.
Changes

pytest tests: 10,406 passed;backend/tests: 509 passed. The identity-gate and CLA tests pass when run separately.test:frontend: 107 passed. This change hardens browser access, URL imports, media and path handling, Hugging Face token routing, model downloads, and remote-worker registration. It also adds Windows rename retries and finalizes the v0.5.7 release notes to reduce cross-site request, private-network access, path traversal, token leakage, and worker-input risks. No current review findings or severity counts were supplied; URL-import and authentication changes warrant human review.
