Description

What customers get

Customers can create a regional network load balancer through the Datum Cloud API to expose TCP and UDP services running in their VPC. They pick a region, the ports to listen on, and the backends to send traffic to. Datum assigns a public address, sends traffic only to healthy backends, and reports whether the load balancer is ready.

This is the API that the CLI and portal will build on.

Scope

  • Create, update and delete a load balancer in one region
  • A public address assigned automatically
  • TCP and UDP listeners
  • Backends from the customer's own VPC in the same region
  • Health checks so failed backends stop receiving traffic
  • Clear status showing whether the load balancer is serving
