Quick Notes:
Using our vMMR concept, a datumctl serve object will need to have various properties set on it.
Nature of Connection
- Public (Unicast TCP/UDP/HTTP/HTTPS endpoint on a Datum POP)
- Public and Optimized (Anycast TCP/UDP/HTTP/HTTPS endpoint on a Datum Gateway)
- Restricted (connections are allowed from known clients that have been pre-authorized - otherwise the LOA of a software cross connect; needs to work across Datum organizational boundaries.
- Private (connections are allowed from known clients that have been pre-authorized - otherwise the LOA of a software cross connect; needs stay within Datum Organizational boundaries.
Discoverability of Connection
Datum can offer a directory of connections available. These flags would used to help define the discoverability of the connection, as well as the classification of the connection. Some basic ideas in story format:
- Tom the developer wants to test his App with his co-worker. The connection is public but not discoverable.
- Tom the developer wants to test his Weather MCP server. The connection is public, optimized, discovered, and tagged as an Awesome Weather MCP Server.
- Tom the DBaaS provider wants to make endpoints to his PostgresSQL database service available, secured, and monitored by Datum for a specific customer. The connecting side must use
datumctl connect to get a connection.
