The weekly Backstage update opens a pull request no check runs on #80
The weekly Backstage update opens its pull request without a single check running on it, so nothing tests a new Backstage release before someone merges it.
The job opens the pull request with the default workflow token, and GitHub does not start workflows for pull requests that token creates. The job looks for a dedicated token first, and that token is not set on the repository.
The pull request asks its reviewer to let the end-to-end workflow validate the deployment, which it cannot do today.
What success looks like
The weekly update pull request runs the same checks as any other pull request
A Backstage release that breaks the build or the end-to-end deployment shows red before merge
