Do you know of a way to increase speed? Geocoding in large cities seems to take 6 - 7 seconds ( with constraint_exclusion on )

Could you give me a few more details? Maybe some sample addresses that are taking a while. How many counties do you have loaded? Have you gone through the general postgresql settings optimizations? (See: http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Performance_Optimization)

If at all possible, it would also be helpful if you could load up the plprofiler plugin from: http://pgfoundry.org/projects/edb-debugger/

I have 34 counties loaded. 1601 Airport Blvd, San Jose CA is an address that takes ~8 seconds to return. I am setting up a test server with plprofiler. Should have some more details soon.

OK, great. One thing that might help, at least a bit, is to remove all the edges and associated featnames that don't have roadflg set.
