Issues verses Discussions

It can be confusing which section to place ideas, bugs, comments, etc. Would it go under Issues or Discussions? This page will layout what goes in each.

Primary Question

The main question that guides where to place each is Is this (idea/bug/comments) actionable? If yes, it will go under the Issues section with the correct tag(s). If no, it will go under the Discussion section. Further questions can be used to refine the details, but this is the main question to ask for placement.

Defining Actionable

Here is how we define actionable for an item:

  1. The item is able to be worked on as a task.
  2. The item has a clear goal of what it is trying to achieve.
  3. The item can be referenced as a single step in a larger task.

Example of what goes in Issues

  • Specific change
  • Bugs and Typos
  • Adding new tool

Example of what goes in Discussion

  • General ideas for changes
  • Translation guidelines
  • Brainstorming ideas for new tools
