The January 2016 United States blizzard was a major blizzard that had produced up to 3 ft (91 cm) of snow in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States from January 22–24, 2016
On January 20–22, the governors of eleven states and the mayor of Washington, D.C. declared a state of emergency in anticipation of significant snowfall and blizzard conditions.
Snowfall totals in Central Park were upped from 26.8 inches to 27.5 inches, making the Jan. 22-23 storm the biggest blizzard to hit the city since recordkeeping began in 1869, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
