The design system's own showcase pages do not run. The Back Bar Design System/ui_kits/back-bar-app/index.html and mobile.html render an empty page.
Two separate causes, both visible in the console:
_ds_bundle.js uses ESM import but is loaded as a classic script: Cannot use import statement outside a module.- The Babel-standalone screens then fail on
import.meta: Failed to execute 'appendChild' on 'Node': Cannot use 'import.meta' outside a module, ending in AppShell is not defined.
This matters more than a broken demo. The kit's README calls these "the two screens that validate the system", and the readme's index points to them as the reference composition. Right now the system has no runnable showcase, so a future revision cannot be checked against it visually.
The bundle is also a stale build: it predates Revision 2, so even once it loads it will not reflect the current components. Rebuilding it is part of the fix.
Found during the UX audit (2026-09-02) alongside PR #6, which fixed the app-facing findings. Noted in the design system readme under Revisions as not yet addressed.
