repconf.py is a small Python 2.4 script that wraps rsync (rsync.samba.org) in order to synchronize two file systems. It was tailored for my specific needs so maybe it is not directly useful for you as it is, but it may be helpful if you are interested in the creation command line tools in linux using Python
