The README image loads in full on every repository visit and every PyPI page view, and the width="640" in the markup only scales it for display -- the 2816x1536, 2.0 MB original was downloaded every time regardless. Resampled to 1280x698 with Lanczos at quality 88, progressive: 97 KB, a 95% reduction, still 2x the rendered width so it stays sharp on high-DPI displays.
