What this crate is

bext-nginx-shim is a thin binary replacement for /usr/sbin/nginx. It understands the nginx CLI surface (nginx -s reload, nginx -t, nginx -V, nginx -c, etc.) and translates each command into the equivalent bext operation. Systemd units, deploy scripts, and CI pipelines that call nginx keep working without any changes.

Install

cargo install bext-nginx-shim
sudo mv /usr/sbin/nginx /usr/sbin/nginx.real
sudo ln -s $(which bext-nginx-shim) /usr/sbin/nginx
sudo systemctl reload nginx  # reloads bext via the shim

Paired with bext-nginx-compat

The shim is a thin layer on top of bext-nginx-compat, which parses the nginx configuration. Install both to get the full drop-in replacement experience.
